I'm sure if I should be offended, or just disappointed...

While looking up the shifter for the 300, I found this; The Chrysler 300 S Turbine Edition. It was shown at NAIAS 2013, but somehow I missed it. It is supposed to be a one off for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Chrysler Turbine car. However, the only thing remotely turbine related is the wheel design. It isn't even turbocharged. The car itself isn't terrible looking, but I don't think it deserves the association with the Chrysler Turbine Car.

"However, the only thing remotely turbine related is the wheel design."

And don't forget the color, although they definitely could have done more. What else would you have liked to see? I certainly hope you weren't expecting a turbine. ;)

Seems like some sort of tribute to the turbine's distinct brake lights would have been appropriate.

That's the best looking 300 I've seen in a long time.

I wasn't expecting a turbine. That being said, the final result just seems weak.

When the Turbine Car made its first debut 50 years ago, it was a huge technological piece for Chrysler at the time. It showed that they were an innovative, forward thinking company, and not afraid of putting a lot of R&D into something different.

I think a more interesting approach would have been to use the anniversary of the Turbine Car as an opportunity to showcase their past and present efforts in innovation, using an original Turbine Car as the center piece.

However, I'm trying to think of what innovations they could have showcased, but the Turbine Car seems to overshadow them all. Maybe that is part of the problem. Still, I think they could have done something other than take a 300, paint it orange, and throw different wheels on it.

It was just a tribute. It was at SEMA, right? I don't know, I guess they shouldn't have done it.

It was actually at the Detroit Auto Show this past year. I think it would have been a better fit at SEMA. It is a great looking 300, it just feels weird as a tribute given the fact that the only real connection to the Turbine Car is the paint color and the turbine style wheels. However, most other tribute cars don't have the complication that the car they are paying homage to has a completely different type of engine.

The best example I can think of would be Mazda paying homage to the original L10A Cosmo with an appearance package on a Miata. It just wouldn't feel right.
